This vintage men's Victorian dress shirt with the provision for a detachable collar and cuffs matches 1850-1870 shirt styles I have found online, but I suspect it's later than that.  Although it has some damage, I have used it for display under period jackets without any of the damage showing.  The shirt buttons and fly go half way down the front (typical up to the 1880s) and have three buttons (looks like mother of pearl) plus the black collar stud, the middle button being a mismatched replacement. The bib of the shirt - the part visible under the waistcoat - has a fancier white-on-white embroidered pattern than the body of the shirt.  The cuffs are designed so that a separate cuff fits over them, and have two button holes for studs. The neck has a button hole in the back for the detachable collar. The reason I suspect it's a later vintage is that the label, "THE WHITE HOUSE SHIRT" with a picture of the Capitol Dome is machine embroidered, which I don't think came into wide use until later. The neck of the garment measures about 15.5" and the sleeve length is 23.5" As for the damage, I have captured it all in the photos. There is a 1 1/2" hole on the back of the left shoulder , and a 6" tear in the left sleeve above the cuff. there are three minor small brown stains under 1" on the sleeves as shown in the photos that are nearly unnoticeable without closer inspection. Of course the neck and cuffs have fraying, as expected for a garment this old.
