The operation of BETADINE® BV gel, which contains 10 mg / g (1%) of astodrimer sodium, a patented dendrimer, is based on the creation of a physical barrier that targets harmful bacteria that cause bacterial vaginosis.
This barrier prevents harmful bacteria from adhering to the inner surface of the vagina, thus reducing the potential for spread, while allowing the growth of beneficial bacteria, helping to normalize the pH of the vagina, and relieving unpleasant odors as well as exudation.
This product is not an antibiotic.
BETADINE® BV gel is not absorbed by the user after vaginal administration.
Bacterial vaginosis, also known as BV, is a disruption of the balance of naturally occurring vaginal bacteria associated with symptoms such as a strong, fish-like odor in the vagina (which may increase after sexual intercourse) or abnormal off-white, dilute vaginal discharge. which can cause discomfort.
BV may recur frequently in some women.
Treatment
Once a day, a full applicator (5 g) of gel should be inserted into the vagina for 7 days, preferably at bedtime.
It is important that you use the product all 7 times, even if your symptoms go away.
Prevention
Once every other day, a full applicator (5 g) of gel should be applied to the vagina, preferably at bedtime.
BETADINE® BV gel can also be used during menstruation.
If BETADINE® BV gel is used at bedtime, it is recommended to use it after sexual intercourse.
Warnings and Precautions
Contact your doctor or pharmacist if:
- you think you may be at risk of getting a sexually transmitted infection;
- your symptoms persist or return or your condition worsens;
- irritation occurs after use of the product;
- You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
Do not use BETADINE ® BV gel in the following cases:
- for pre-adolescent girls;
- if you are sensitive to astodrimer sodium, hydroxybenzoates or any of the other ingredients;
- if the applicator package is missing or damaged or if the sealing foil of the metal tube is perforated.
Do not share your applicator with anyone.
Dispose of the applicator properly after dosing.
